DAY ONE
Depart from your home area travelling to York and arrive in time for dinner at Mercure York Fairfield Manor Hotel. 4 nights stay - dinner, bed and breakfast.
DAY TWO
Today is ‘York in a nutshell’, we are joined by our tour guide for a comprehensive morning sightseeing tour of York. In the afternoon we enjoy a cruise on the river Ouse, followed by free time to explore the city at leisure.
DAY THREE
This morning we leave for a tour of Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Our first stop is Pickering where we join the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a ride across the moors to the historic seaport of Whitby, with its ruined abbey on the cliff top overlooking the busy harbour. We have time for lunch here and to explore the town before returning across Blakey Ridge, offering some of the most spectacular views of the area. From Hutton-le-Hole we continue to Helmsley for a break before returning to the hotel.
DAY FOUR
This morning we visit delightful Castle Howard, best known for its starring role in ‘Brideshead Revisited’. We have time to explore the house and the lovely grounds. The afternoon is free to explore the city at leisure. You can visit the Jorvik Centre, The National Railway Museum, walk the City Walls, magnificent Minster, or the famous Shambles
DAY FIVE
After breakfast, we leave and begin our journey home.
