A summer tour to Exeter where we enjoy a guided tour of the cathedral. We visit Dartmoor National Park including a stop at Buckfast Abbey. In Sidmouth, we discover the wonderful global work of the Donkey Sanctuary and in Exmouth, we learn about bygone eras at the World of Country Life.

DAY ONE

Depart from your home area and travel to Exeter, arriving at the Voco Zeal Hotel.  4 nights stay – dinner, bed & breakfast.

DAY TWO

This morning, we journey to Buckfast Abbey, home to a community of Roman Catholic Benedictine Monks.  We then enjoy a scenic drive through the beautiful Dartmoor National Park, making a lunchtime stop in Tavistock - the historic market town and birthplace of Sir Francis Drake. This afternoon we return across Dartmoor stopping in Princetown -- home to the infamous Dartmoor prison and the Dartmoor National Park Visitor Centre.

DAY THREE 

After a leisurely breakfast, we make our way to Exeter Cathedral for a guided tour. Discover the history, Gothic architecture and hear the stories spanning nearly a thousand years.  You have the afternoon free to explore Exeter. Perhaps visit the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, explore the city’s Underground Passages, or wander down to the Quayside with its fascinating history and architecture.

DAY FOUR 

This morning, we visit the famous Donkey Sanctuary. Listen to the fascinating history of how the sanctuary was set up and how they work with other countries all over the world. From here we visit The World of Country Life including The Hall of Transport, Museum of Farming, Steam Engine Shed and the Deer Train Safari and hand-feed red deer and llama. 

DAY FIVE

After breakfast, we leave and begin our journey home.
